Though our lineage in the fishing industry extends back nine generations, Tor Bay Fisheries began as a corporation in 1988, rooted in the rich traditions of Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore. What started as a small-scale fishing operation evolved into a trusted leader in the live lobster industry. Over the decades, we’ve honed our expertise, embraced innovation, and remained steadfast in our commitment to supporting local fishers and delivering the world’s finest Canadian lobster.
Our unique location along the pristine shores of the North Atlantic gives us access to some of the most sought-after lobster grounds. Every spring, we work directly with local fishers, fostering relationships built on trust, fairness, and mutual respect. These relationships are the heart of our operation, ensuring that every lobster we source meets the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
Our State-of-the-Art Lobster Haven
In 2023, we opened our state-of-the-art live lobster holding facility, equipped with cutting-edge refrigeration and filtration systems. This investment allows us to maintain the premium quality of our lobster year-round, supporting both the fishers we partner with and the customers we serve.
Our Commitment to the Eastern Shore
Beyond our business, we’re proud to be one of the largest employers in Guysborough County, providing meaningful work for nearly 70 people. Whether it’s through sourcing fresh bait, supplying gear, or offering administrative support, we’re committed to empowering our community and the local fishing industry.
